Four Misunderstandings of Using AdBlue

2020-05-11 11:45:54

Misunderstanding 1 :Using agricultural urea instead of industrial urea for AdBlue®

AdBlue® has strict ratio requirements which are basically composed of high-purity urea and deionized water and the ratio is strictly controlled. One of the criteria for quality is the control of impurities. There are many impurities such as particulate matter, metal ions and minerals in agricultural urea and its damage is very obvious. Simply put, the use of agricultural urea in the car will cause fatal damage to the SCR system, and it is expensive to replace the post-processing system.

Misunderstanding 2 :  Urea consumption is too high

The use of urea will definitely increase the cost, but it is definitely not a high consumption. In general, urea consumption accounts for about 5% of fuel consumption.

Misunderstanding 3 :  Adding water instead of AdBlue®

There are a lot of impurities in the tap water which is far beyond the visual range of our eyes. Among them, the most common substances such as calcium, magnesium and sodium are easily formed into solid matter, thereby blocking the urea nozzle.

Misunderstanding 4 : Shielding the SCR system

Some people will reduce the cost of purchasing AdBlue® by shielding SCR system. It is common to change the signal to deceive the driving computer by brushing the ECU or installing a simulator on the vehicle, there by reducing the injection of the AdBlue®. Another cheaper way is to add a screw with a cost of only 10 blocks to the sensor of the post-processor. It can realize that the urea of the vehicles less spray and even not spray which seems to save a lot of cost. But the maintenance cost in the later period may be very high.
