About the Selective Catalytic Reduction system of the diesel vehicle

SCR is a technology that uses a urea based diesel exhaust fluid (known as AdBlue or DEF) and a catalytic converter to significantly reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions.

All major engine manufacturers have stated that they will eventually use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to strictly enforce engine emissions regulations.

The purpose of SCR systems is to reduce NOx levels (nitrogen oxide emissions from the engine), reduce gases that are harmful to humans and protect our health and the environment. The SCR is an integrated system that combines an SCR catalyst unit, an engine/emission control module, an on-board diagnostic unit (OBD) as well as an AdBlue dosing unit and AdBlue tank. The system components are integrated to ensure the desired emission reduction is achieved.

SCR denitrification is a flue gas denitrification technology with the most application and the most mature technology in the world. The advantages of this method are that due to the use of catalysts, the reaction temperature is low, the purification rate is high, which can be as high as 85% or more. The process equipment is compact and the operation is reliable, the nitrogen is empty after reduction and without secondary pollution.

The SCR system is to reduce levels of NOx (oxides of nitrogen emitted from engines) that are harmful to our health and the environment.

SCR is the aftertreatment technology that treats exhaust gas downstream of the engine.Small quantities of AdBlue are injected into the exhaust upstream of a catalyst. This converts to ammonia in the exhaust stream and reacts with NOx over the catalyst to form harmless nitrogen gas and water.
