What is EDI

2020-05-11 11:43:52

EDI (Electrodeionization), also known as continuous electro-desalination technology, scientifically integrates electrodialysis technology and ion exchange technology.

Through Selective permeation of cations and anions by cation and anion membranes and the exchange effect of ion exchange resin on ions in water. The directional migration of ions in water is realized under the action of electric field, so as to achieve the depth of water purification and desalination, and the hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion generated by water electrolysis are used for continuous regeneration of the filling resin.

Therefore, the EDI water production process can continuously produce high-quality ultra-pure water without the regeneration of acid and alkali chemicals. It has the advantages of advanced technology, compact structure and simple operation, and can be widely used in electric power, electronics, medicine, chemical ,industry, food and the laboratory field .It is the green revolution in water treatment technology. The effluent water quality has the best stability.

Since the past few decades, mixed bed ion exchange technology (D) has been as a standard of the preparation process because of its regeneration and requires periodic regeneration process consume large amounts of chemicals and industrial pure water (ph), and certain environmental problem, so need to be developed without alkali ultrapure water system because of the traditional ion exchange has become increasingly unable to meet the needs of modern industry and environmental protection, so combining membrane resin and electrochemical principle of EDI technology is a revolution of water treatment technology The regeneration of ion-exchange resin USES electric energy instead of acid and alkali, thus meeting the environmental requirements of today's world.

EDI equipment is used in reverse osmosis system, replacing the traditional mixed bed ion exchange technology (MB-DI) to produce stable ultrapure water.

EDI technology has the following advantages over mixed ion exchange technology:

(1) stable water quality

(2) Easy to achieve fully automatic control

(3) No downtime due to regeneration

(4) No need for chemical regeneration

(5) Low operating costs

(6) Small plant area

(7) No sewage discharge

EverBlue's also provide the AdBlue® Production Machine with EDI system to produce high performance AdBlue® reach the standard of VDA and ISO 22241 .
