What is the difference between automotive grade urea and agricultural grade urea?

2022-06-24 17:03:09

Exhaust gas treatment fluid, commonly known as automotive urea fluid, is a consumable that must be used in SCR technology and is mainly used for exhaust gas treatment of diesel engines. With the policy for energy conservation and emission reduction, most light trucks on the market are now equipped with urea tanks, but many people cannot tell well what is the difference between automotive urea and the most common agricultural urea?

Although automotive urea is also urea, it is very different from agricultural urea. Automotive urea has strict ratio requirements, basically composed of high-purity urea and deionized water, and the mass fraction should be strictly controlled at 31.8%-33.2%. One of the quality standards is the degree of control of impurities, and there are many impurities such as particulate impurities in agricultural urea. Adding agricultural urea fluid to the car will cause fatal damage to the SCR system, and it will cost tens of thousands of yuan to replace an SCR treatment system.

   Is urea consumption too high?

I often hear truck drivers saying that the consumption of urea is too high, which leads to an increase in cost. It is undeniable that the use of urea will increase the cost, but it is definitely not called too high consumption. In general, urea consumption is about 5% of fuel consumption.
