The reasons for the easy crystallization of DEF

crystallization of DEF

The SCR scheme has obvious advantages in the national IV diesel vehicle exhaust emission treatment system and Diesel Exhaust Fluid for vehicles is a necessary additive for the SCR scheme.

With the gradual implementation of the National IV emission standards for diesel vehicles in various cities, the demand for Diesel Exhaust Fluid may be blowing out.

The SCR system includes a DEF tank (loaded with diesel engine exhaust treatment fluid), and an SCR catalytic reaction tank. The operation process of the SCR system is: when nitrogen oxides are found in the exhaust pipe, the DEF tank will automatically spray out the diesel engine exhaust treatment fluid, then it will undergo oxidation-reduction reactions in the SCR catalytic reaction tank to generate nitrogen oxides. Contaminated nitrogen and water vapor are vented.

If the DEF is not loaded, or the purity is not enough, or the quality is inferior, the vehicle engine will automatically decelerate. At the same time, low-quality DEF will pollute the catalyst in the SCR catalytic reaction tank, causing serious consequences.

The reasons for the easy crystallization of DEF may be as follows:

1. After the vehicle is turned off, the DEF pump is not completely emptied.

Since there is still some residual DEF in the pump and pipeline after the ignition switch of the vehicle is turned off, it is necessary to perform emptying work at this time to prevent DEF from crystallization or freezing. However, some engine aftertreatment systems now have an automatic emptying function. The emptying function will start after the engine is stopped and empty the residual liquid in the pipeline. But also pay attention that do not turn off the power of the whole vehicle immediately after the vehicle is turned off. It is recommended to stay at least 5 minutes before turning off the power of the whole vehicle.

2. The DEF pump filter element is not replaced regularly.

The current diesel DEF pump basically has a filter and a filter element. Usually, the use of the filter element should be checked every 30,000 kilometers, and maintenance should be paid attention to at ordinary times. Replace it If it fails. At the same time, the editor of Uniform DEF also reminds card users to pay attention to adding DEF, be sure to use a special DEF tube to add and not to let dust into it, if the dust is brought into the tank due to careless operation, it will easily cause filtration Malfunction and clogged nozzles. Under normal circumstances, the DEF nozzle will have 3 to 4 spray holes. If 1-2 of the holes are blocked, poor atomization will inevitably occur and cause crystallization.

3. Use of non-compliant low-quality DEF.

Qualified DEF for vehicles refers to the urea aqueous urea solution with a concentration ranging from 31.8% to 33.2% and ultrapure water as the solvent. The raw materials for production are special raw materials for automotive grade urea and ultrapure water. The key to the quality of DEF lies in the purity of the raw materials. Impurities in inferior DEF will cause crystallization in the exhaust pipe, resulting in blocky solids, blocking the exhaust pipe, and even damaging the engine.

EverBlues Diesel Exhaust Fluid is suitable for all vehicles and mechanical equipment equipped with SCR systems at present, and is produced and sold in strict accordance with DIN70070 and ISO22241 standards. High-purity automotive-grade urea and deionized water are used to ensure product purity.
