Shelf Life of AdBlue®

2023-08-31 09:27:31

Shelf Life of AdBlue® (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)

It is recommended that AdBlue® be stored out of the direct sunlight and below 35 deg C. Where higher ambient temperatures are experienced, tanks should be insulated or stored in a shaded area. The storage temperature range between 10 ℃ and 35 ℃, the shelf life floating in 12 to 36 months in this range.

Expiration Dates

Each package is stamped or marked with a date code indicating the date the AdBlueAdBlue® was made. The first digit of the date code is the AdBlue® batch number. The next 6 digits reflect a date code, formatted as YYMMDD. Shelf life determination should be based on the period of time past that date.

Temperature Ranges

For maximum shelf life, AdBlue® should be stored at temperatures that do not exceed 68 degrees or fall below 23 degrees.

Sunlight exposure can negatively affect the quality of AdBlue® (DEF) and shorten its shelf life by decomposing the urea content. If DEF is stored outdoors, it should be stored in an area that is constantly shaded. Outdoor storage is not recommended.

The lower the storage temperature, the longer the shelf life.

Concentration of AdBlue®

AdBlue® is an aqueous solution with a concentration of 32.5 % urea. The qualified urea concentration range is 31.8-33.2. If the test concentration is within the qualified range after the shelf life, and it will not affect the use.
